Lipitor.
Lipitor (atorvastatin) is a prescription medicine that works by blocking the production of cholesterol in the body therefore lowering the risk of a heart attack, stroke and type 2 diabetes. You can take Lipitor with some food or without, regularly and without taking too much or too little of this medicine. Take the right amount recommended by your health care provider. In case you missed a dose, do not try to make up for the dose missed by taking two doses at once – this is not going to make your treatment more efficient and can lead to serious health consequences. Your treatment program will include a lot more than just taking this medicine – you will also need to follow a certain diet plan, consume less cholesterol and exercise regularly. Simply taking Lipitor may not be as efficient. Drinking alcohol is not recommended as it can damage your liver if combined with Lipitor. Do not consume any amounts of grapefruit juice, as it has been reported to interact with Lipitor as well. Mild side effects are sometimes possible, especially when your body is only adjusting to the dose prescribed. Lipitor is FDA pregnancy category X and must never be taken by pregnant women. It's also not intended for patients younger than 10 and must not be given to such patients.
